Taking your bike or scooter to a new city? Transporting it by a moving company is often safer and less tiring than riding it over a long distance. Here is how to prepare your two-wheeler before it is packed and loaded.

1. Keep Documents Ready

  • Registration certificate (RC) — give a copy, keep the original with you.
  • Insurance policy — a copy for the transport papers.
  • Your ID proof.
  • Pollution certificate, if asked.

2. Clean and Photograph the Bike

  • Wash the bike a day before pickup so existing scratches are easy to see.
  • Take clear photos from both sides, front, back, the tank and the seat.
  • Photograph the odometer reading.
  • Point out existing marks to the team so they go on the condition report.

3. Fuel and Battery

  • Keep only a small amount of fuel in the tank — just enough to ride it on and off the vehicle. A full tank is a safety risk during transport.
  • For long-distance moves, the team may ask to disconnect the battery. Make sure you know how to reconnect it, or ask them to do it at delivery.

4. Remove Accessories and Loose Items

  • Remove mobile holders, saddle bags, tank bags, top boxes and anything not fixed.
  • Take out documents and items from the storage space under the seat.
  • Keep helmets with you or pack them separately.
  • Fold or remove mirrors if they are easy to detach.

5. Check the Bike's Condition

  • Check tyre pressure.
  • Look for oil leaks and tell the team if there are any.
  • Switch off any alarm system.

6. How a Bike Is Packed

A properly packed bike is wrapped in layers — foam or bubble wrap on the tank, handlebars, mirrors and lights, then corrugated sheets and stretch film over the body. In the vehicle it is tied down firmly so it cannot move during the journey.

7. Hand Over and Confirm

  • Hand over one key and keep the spare.
  • Check and sign the condition report, and keep a copy.
  • Confirm the delivery address, the receiver's phone number and the agreed delivery date in writing.

8. At Delivery

  • Check the bike against your pickup photos before signing the delivery receipt.
  • Check the odometer reading.
  • Note any damage on the receipt, take photos and report it in writing quickly — at Century Packers and Movers, within 24 hours of delivery.
